ABOUT
US.
Transformational Ministries, (TM), is a Non-Governmental Organization started in 2011, working in Rwanda, we seek to reach out to the most vulnerable members of our society, in particular children, youth, and women in order to empower families and community. In 1994, Rwanda was torn apart by genocide against Tutsi as the government ordered its Hutu population to kill off the minority Tutsi. The Rwandans, influenced by propaganda, manipulation, and a sense of misguided information and purpose. OUR
FOUNDERS.

Bishop John & Harriet Rucyahana
Founders of Transformational Ministries
Bishop John & Harriet Rucyahana married on 20th December 1969, they have lived through much together and they have seen God at work in their lives. They have 5 children and 18 grandchildren in 2025.
They committed to love and support people who are in needy from the time they were in Uganda as refugees. They came up with initiative to embrace the children in their hearts and formed Mustard Seed Babies home to take care of children whose parents died because of HIV AIDS.
When they came back to Rwanda after the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994, they found the amount of pain from sorrow was inconceivable to those who have not been here. You can’t imagine the pain and hopelessness that was generated in people.
In 2000 they build a school called Sonrise to take care of orphans of the Genocide even for the children of perpetrators to restore hope and build unity among the young ones. When Bishop John became the Bishop of Shyira Diocese, the country had over 400,000 orphans. They had no one to take care for them so they came up with initiative to keep them at a comfortable place and give them a second chance of life.
December 20th in 2016 the Alumni of Sonrise School held a fellowship event to honour Bishop John and Harriet who funded the school. The Alumni aim of keeping in touch and working together with the same vision as family. Today most of them are fathers and mothers and they have good occupation and have achieved a lot.
After Bishop John Rucyahana’s retirement in the administration and management of the Shyira Diocese, He and Harriet felt a call to continue helping the marginalized & vulnerable children with their families; so, they started Transformational Ministries as a Non-Profit Organization because they could not hide their feelings and kind personality in shaping the lives of others.
Transformational Ministries is supporting more than 200 students in their education (paying school fees, provide uniforms, shoes, notebooks and other basic needs), they provide livestock to poor families (cow, sheep or goat), renovate or construct houses and toilet in bad conditions and also buy some pieces of land to help the families to work together to earn living.
They are calling upon everyone who wants to help to join them in this redemptive work. Feel free to contact us at transformationalm@gmail.com
